Stardust & Bubbles

Welcome to the first blog post of Stardust & Bubbles!

I’m excited to share a look into the world behind this project that’s so close to my heart and how Stardust & Bubbles came about. But first, here is a little bit about me.

Wandering is in my DNA. I’ve wandered across different countries (21 to be exact) and tried different careers (from television host to working as a communications consultant with the United Nations) to end up where I am now. My beginning was in Colombia, where I grew up in a Colombian-Chinese household before our whole family immigrated to Vancouver, Canada.

I always knew in my heart that I wanted to work with children or be a mother — or both. When I was seven years old, I knew that when I grew up, I would be a kindergarten teacher by day and Shakira by night. The calling to be like Shakira was strong, and as a little girl, I loved dancing, performing, and being on stage.

That dream somehow got lost when I finished high school and applied for university … and I went into the field of communications, which led me to a fruitful career in television broadcasting, competing in pageants, and performing on stage. But somehow, I had silenced the kindergarten teacher dream within me.

I ignored this little voice for many years until I learned that fame did not fulfill me, and having (what seemed to be) one of the most meaningful jobs in the world (working for an international non-governmental organization like the United Nations) didn’t feel meaningful to me. 

So that’s when I decided that instead of wandering, I would begin wondering. I had many ideas floating around that excited me and ignited something in me, but nothing was ever concrete enough for me to put away my fears and actually take the first step. That was until Toby came along and showed me a ladder to reach the cloud of ideas above my head.

That’s where Stardust & Bubbles was born out of an idea to share mindfulness with children.

Stardust & Bubbles is a project that is made up of many pieces. It’s yoga through storytelling for kids, positive affirmation cards, and magic coloring books that is created with the vision of helping children find their inner calm and embrace their outer joy.
